SEEKING COMFORT

As part of the cooperation project between the HfG Karlsruhe and the Städtische Galerie, students from the exhibition design/scenography and product design departments worked on the redesign of an area in the museum foyer. The focus was on the development of seating that creates new qualities of stay. Where, why and how do people sit in the museum? Questions on the basis of which the students developed new ideas and concepts for the entrance situation of the Städtische Galerie. The previously rather inconspicuous checkroom corner is to be transformed through scenographic intervention, working as a link between public and museum space and inviting visitors to arrive, linger and reflect before and after their visit to the exhibition. The designs and prototypes were exhibited from 28.04.-03.07.2022 in the Städtische Galerie.
