THE CLOCK IS ALWAYS WRONG (MOUTH) and THE CLOCK IS ALWAYS WRONG (INK) are two kinetic objects I fabricated for artist Johanna Hedva. They were part of Johanna's body of work "The Clock is always wrong", which was shown in the group exhibition "YOYI! Care, Repair, Healing" (15.9.22 - 15.1.23) at Gropius Bau Berlin.

(INK) is a mechanical contraption with a fulcrum, also made of bog oak, holding two teaspoons that have been welded together. Every day, at the exact minute the sun sets, a micro controller powers a motor that is connected to the spoon contraption via a toothed belt drive and bevel gears. It slowly dips one spoon into a bowl of ink, then tilts to the spoon on the other side. The ink runs over the handle from one spoon to the other, finally dripping onto a piece of paper. Over the duration of the exhibition (4 months), the piece of paper was not moved.

(MOUTH) is a two-piece hourglass in a bog oak frame (boiled, bent, oiled) filled with a viscous black liquid. The liquid was concocted to drip at a slow enough rate that it took the length of the exhibition (4 months) to fall from the top to the bottom..
